About Us

Dharma & Martia was originally established by Ms. Nadia Zabehi in September 2014 as an activity / member group at RFSL Stockholm with the ambition to help with LGBTQI persons from Middle East domestically within Sweden and internationally. As our activism, reach and extent of our wrok grew to international rather than domestic, we together with RFSL and RFSL Stockholm decided to let Dharma & Martia to become an independent organization that can reach its potentials and fulfill its domestic & international goals.

Today, we operate independantly as an organization working internationally to provide what it takes to impact lives of LGBTQI persons from Middle East, either in their home country or on the flee, or upon arrival to the third country. We provide educational material, latest news and updates, asylum & resettlement support, advocacy to name a few.

Countries of our focus are:

We also together with our friend organizations, collect reports of violations of human rights of LGBTQI persons in Middle East in any stage of their lives they may be in to submit to human right bodies who could follow up on the matter and take appropriate actions.

Dharma & Martia was founded by Ms. Nadia Zabehi who is today the Executive Director and President of Dharma & Martia.

Dharma & Martia believes in the universality of human rights and fights for it:

“Human beings are members of a whole

In creation of one essence and soul

If one member is afflicted with pain

Other members uneasy will remain

If you have no sympathy for human pain

The name of human you cannot retain”
